Representatives from GISD member organisations were in Tokyo, Japan in early October to take part in PRI in Person, an annual conference organised by a core partner of the GISD Alliance: the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
At the 2023 conference, Gavin Power (Executive Vice President and Chief of Sustainable Development and International Affairs at PIMCO and Chair of GISD's Outreach and Engagement Group) moderated a discussion on "sustainability outcomes in practice: the SDGs and beyond." The panel included GISD representative Claudia Kruse (Managing Director, Global Responsible Investment & Governance at APG) and representatives from the World Bank Treasury and the Japanese insurance company Dai-Ichi Life.
This session outlined the evolution towards outcomes-based investing and shared examples of how investors can embed sustainable development concepts (including climate) into their work in the long term. Mr. Power presented GISD's definition of sustainable development investing as an example of a tool that enables investors to align investment with sustainable development and encouraged stakeholders to consider implementing this within their own organisations.
